Next Step outpatient services in East Perth provide a range of free and confidential alcohol and other drug treatment services to people aged 18 years and over.

Community Metro Alcohol and Drug Services

The Community Metro Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) provide outpatient alcohol and other drug services in the community. Next Step has partnered with non-government Alcohol and Other Drug service providers in the community to deliver an Integrated Service to the consumer and ensure community needs are a priority.

These services are free and confidential and provide individuals and their families with:

  • assessment and referral
  • counselling, case management and support
  • opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy treatment
  • outpatient withdrawal services including home-based withdrawal through Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network (DAWN)
  • medical reviews
  • clinical psychology
  • group programs
  • support to families and significant others
  • shared care with other services
  • diversion programs for people referred by police and the court system
  • services for young people and people referred by other agencies
  • outreach counselling services
  • support for local communities through prevention and community development activities

Note: some of the above services are provided by Next Step's non-government partners.

Drug and Alcohol Youth Service

The Drug and Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) is a free and confidential service located in East Perth which provides young people and their families with access to a comprehensive range of alcohol and drug services including:

  • Assessment and referral
  • Counselling, case management and support
  • A two week youth withdrawal and respite service
  • A three month residential rehabilitation program (rent charges may apply)
  • Transition support including housing
  • Medical reviews
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Support for family members including family therapy
  • Outreach counselling
  • Group programs
  • Diversion program for people referred by police and courts
  • Mentoring (including Aboriginal mentoring)
  • Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy
  • Shared care with other services

The Community Pharmacotherapy Program (CPP) 

The Community Pharmacotherapy Program (CPP) provides support, information, advice, training and resources for clients, pharmacists and medical practitioners involved in methadone and buprenorphine treatment for opioid dependence throughout WA.

CPP together with the Department of Health administer the clinical and regulatory controls which apply across the Program.
